I have not been motivated to post on the blog over the past few days and had been wondering what had changed. I think that recently it has become clearer to me that, as a partner of someone well over 70 with underlying health problems, I may need to remain in social isolation for closer to 12 months than 12 weeks.
My initial plans, which have evolved but are basically working well, were for a 12 week retreat which I would use to achieve mainly fitness, health (diet and mental health) and gardening goals. That sort of programme feels OK for 12 weeks but doesn’t fulfil a longer term need to make a social contribution. That is unless I can convince myself that staying home is social contribution enough.

Morning Judith, I’ve been wondering where your posts were. I’d certainly enjoyed the incentive they gave me to review my day. Now doing the same in the morning but need to get out in that sunshine soon!! We all have our respective challenges don’t we and I’m readjusting continually as things out there develop. The big thing for me is to clarify what my real purpose is and hence my true service activity. You have been such a support to me with my troubles and I completely trust your honesty, good Sence and integrity. That’s a great service your are offering which as we’ve both commented on, has come out since
CV 19. Could it be that your skills and talents are now put to support imediate family, wider family and friends going through the difficulties we talked about recently? Reapplication of top profession with immediate friends and family.?Coming home? A home coming and you certainly have a beautiful spot there with great views, lovely garden and super walks. Lots to think about. See you at Yoga. XXX
Hi Judith thank goodness I’m not on my own. Last night after hearing Chris Whitty say we will probably have to continue social distancing until the end of the year I was almost ready to give up. Life seems so pointless without the opportunity to socialise with family and friends. So much of our regular activities are no longer possible. My cousin posted some lovely photos on Facebook today of the countryside near Leek where she lives – how Richard & I both miss walking in the Peak District especially as the weather is so good. However we have walked today from our home to Countesthorpe and called to see a couple who are having to stay at home completely because of a health problem. Much of the walk was across fields or wooded areas and I feel much better for it. I suppose that we will eventually get used to it but at the moment the future doesn’t look very inviting. This must be similar to how our grandparents and parents felt during the war when there didn’t appear to be an end in sight. At least we have better technology now to keep in touch.
